[FLWSS] Rohn Towers

 I talked to Rohn Industries in Maitland this afternoon and got the
skinny on the 
company. There were a lot of rumors running around about Rohn when they
were bought out by Radian. The parent company of Radian is actually some
other Canadian outfit. (I forget the name)

The Maitland office only handles export orders and does not carry
hardware. It
is strictly a paper pusher outfit.

Rohn/Radian is very much alive and well. After the company was sold
there was a big
re-organization to cut costs. During the dot.com boom, Rohn had a
factory expansion
they could not support when the dot.com bust came. Naturally the owners
tried
to keep all the balls in the air, but sometimes you have to make the
hard choices.
 
They still make ALL the old products and at the same factory in
Peoria,IL. I know the Towertalk email reflector on Contesting.com has
had a bunch of emails flying about the buyout in the past and everyone
thought the sky was falling. 

So go ahead and make that big tower purchase. Rohn is still around and
will be 
here for quite some time.

Hi Walt,
I have often wondered what became of the assets of Rohn Towers and also 
of ARS (Aerotron-Repco Systems).
The owner of ARS was Andrew Kostantinidis and he died about 7-8 years 
ago. He also owned a Rohn distributorship in Orlando.
