I copied Pyro Joe's 10 GHz beacon this afternoon at 1744 Z. Once I got set up
on the East bank of the Indian River in Indialantic I easily found his beacon
almost immediately. It was not strong, about S 2, but was Q5 copy. I am using
a 4' dish at 4' above ground. Distance is 65 miles. The azimuth to Joe's, 313
degrees, provided at least a 3 mile unobstructed view over the water. The
beacon was at 10368.008 on my dial. Not sure if the error is on his end or mine.
Was using one of K0VXM's cell phone oscillator sources to calibrate my
receiver. Joe reports that this is the first reported reception of his beacon. Get
out there and look for it. It is easy to find. Neither of us has a great
location. Jim, NN4AA

**************************************
See what's free at
