I loaned my 2nd WBFM 10 GHz radio to Keith Schreiber KC0DIV and his son
Mark (12) KI4OBE and we headed to the Atlantic Ocean coast. Best DX
yesterday was Cape Canaveral to Vero Beach. Signals were S9 and full
quieting. Distances have not yet been calculated.
The plan for Sunday (yesterday) was to start at the Cape Canaveral to
Ft. Pierce path, and have the Ft. Pierce station head south towards West
Palm Beach. Cape Canaveral to Ft. Pierce was easy last year. But it
didn't happen. We shall attempt it on the 2nd weekend of the contest.
I think that even with WBFM the Cape Canaveral to West Palm Beach path
will be workable.

Ken N8KH
PS I'd like to see a lot more activity. One weekend we should work the
east coast paths, and the 2nd weekend we should work the west coast
paths. No complaining about the heat. Get out and operate!! :-)
Who knows what is possible on the west coast? Key West to St.
Petersburg? Key West to Panama City? Key West to Galveston? Key West
to Corpus Christi? We need beacons and monitoring stations accessible
through the internet.
We should also duplicate the West Palm Beach to Outer Banks contacts
every year. Let's kick some west coast butt.
PPS If you guys get serious about operating, I'll get serious about
building my narrowband rig, and get a cell phone for scheduling
contacts.
