Yeah, your antenna is a little low. Get it up and you will hear more.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for the reply. I tried to check into the
Daytona SWOT net on Wednesday but did not hear a peep.
The net control is in Port Orange, 216m from my QTH,
and supposedly they beam in my direction at 810pm.

So far my best groundwave DX is to Jupiter (70m), and
he was not too loud, so maybe my antenna is too low.
I'm in the process of increasing its height to 40'
(now just 25'). The only "local" I have heard on 2m
is KP4EOR in Miami. I have worked 1100m via WSJT.

As for the mast-mount pre-amp, do you think it would
make a great improvement when my feedline is just 60'
of LMR-400? As you know, it's not cheap to put up a
mast-mount capable of handling 500w, plus a sequencer.
But I'd probably do it if would really double the
number of stations I hear. At the moment, I just have
a GaasFet preamp in the shack, between the exciter
(IC-7000) and the amp (Tokyo Hy-Power HL-500V).
