Jim,
I glad to see you want to take the lead on compiling such a list. Feel
free to solicit members for information
and form a small committee for those interested. I guess all you need is a
set of topographic maps for FL. I think they
are available online from USGS. Do you think you could have a good start by
the August 10GHz contest?

Subject: [FLWSS] Future Rover sites
Hope everyone had a great time during the VHF contest. I sure did. Had a
chance to visit the WA2IID rover when it was in operation here in EL 97.
Very interesting and nice! However, its operation was somewhat compromised
by site selection. I propose that the club take on the project of locating
and publishing a list of sites in the state for future rover use. Sites
should be selected based on drivability to the site and a clear view to the
horizon in as many directions as possible. With this in mind, I propose the
highway around the Port Canaveral basin, US 192 in the St. Johns River area
west of I 95 near Melbourne and the most obvious Sugar Loaf Mt all in EL 98.
There must be other perfectly good locations in other grids and counties. I
believe this list would be a great help to rovers in the next contest. Jim,
