FYI

To any of the Florida Amateur operators interested in the June VHF/UHF
contest:

Tom and I are getting ready for our planned roving in Florida in June. At
the end of this note is our Tentative proposed schedule. If we decide to make
changes, I will try to send a follow up note.

Remember that in roving, times are subject to change based on problems,
traffic, weather, etc. so view these as approximate. Times are local (EDT)

Our operating plan is to use 144.200 to locate people for contacts. If
there is activity, when we make a contact we may move up
to 144.210 while we coordinate with someone to run the bands (if 144.200 is
rather busy). So if you are looking for us, try 144.200 then 144.210.
The rig we use on 2 meters is also used on 432 and 1296, so if you don't get
us right away, try a few minutes later.
We will also try to monitor 50.125 all the time. That is a dedicated
receiver with an omni antenna.
In general, at the start of each time period (arrival at new location) we
will aim for east central Florida. half hour later, we will probably
try to the northeast for JAX and Georgia.

We are operational on all bands from 50 MHz through 10368 MHz. All except
5760 MHz are relatively good power and antennas.
If you want details, send me a note.
We have automatic switching for all bands, so we can move from one band to
the next in a few seconds.
We have been able to run the bands all the way in a couple minutes under
good conditions, so it is worth your taking a couple minutes out
to run the bands even if 6 meters is open! So, please take time and look
for us.

If you want to check out communication capability before the contest starts,
we hope to be fully operational at least a half hour before
the contest starts, so give us a shout.

Our rover station is packaged in a small utility trailer that we tow from
location to location.
So we do not have much radio capability while traveling. We will try to
monitor 146.550 and 446.000 while mobile.

If you want to set up a specific schedule with us in these time slots, send
me a note and we will TRY to have our antennas aimed in your direction at
those
times but without guarantees.

73 and good luck in the contest,
Jack
